Well-Lit Chess Pieces, is a two-part public art project of 11 life-sized chess pieces and 26 rainbow-colored park light lampshades displayed throughout the four corner entrances to the park.

Well-Lit Chess Pieces is now extended to run through the Spring 2006 in Washington Square Park-NYC. Sponsored in part by Starbucks Neighborhood Park Grants Program as well as Knickerbocker Village NY, Inc., and Signature Properties NY, Inc. Special thanks to NYC Dept. of Parks & Recreation, Materials for the Arts, NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, U.S. Chess Federation, and Community Board 2.
